I have decided to complete my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to support my ability to teach the Hospitality VET course when I get out in to schools.

Saturday the 25th of July 2009 was our first training day, I feel that completing this course will only help improve my classroom management and teaching skills, one of first assessments is

  • This assessment activity requires you to demonstrate your ability to develop a leaning rapport with your learners.

Meaning conduct an Ice breaker with the group this can be any activity, should take between 10-15 minutes.  Researching for this task I feel this is could have been benifical to my prac to have included some of these.  I have add to my resources some of the sites that include good ideas for ice breakers.

3 Week Prac

Wow, what a great time.

I really enjoyed this experience at St Joseph’s, the teachers I had the chance to work with were very professional Teachers who had a great deal that they could share with me.

I had the chance in my first week to go on retreat with year 11 which included little sleep and very cold whether.  Even with what I know now I would still go, as the chance to get out on a group excursion, and experience the logistics of group co-ordination will be valuable.

To classes, I had the chance to work with 4 teachers each with their own style of classroom management which was great to experience.  The classes I had when shared classes and this is why I had the chance to work with this many professionals.

I’m not sure how else to put into words the value of the effort, support and help that everyone gave to me on my prac.  I joined in a range of different classes room subject which only further increased the amount of observations that I could make and learn from.

Can’t help but add one last reference source.

Not wanting to watch the state of origin decided to watch a show on the abc “The new Inventors”

This show is about getting 3 people to present there new invention that three judges then give feedback on and select their choice of winner, but you at home can also place your vote for a winner by going on line.  The inventors come up with some great ideas that range from the everyday to the extraordinary.

I attended my 2nd of 3 day visits preparing us for our three week block.  I feel more confident after this visit, as to the expectations of my experience.  Kim has given me an outline for my year 9 and ten classes I will be taking.  I have 2 year ten classes that I while be able to teach my lessons twice with.  Many of my classes are share-teaching classes, so I well be working with a number of teachers.  My classes are currently all Food tec classes with a large number of prac lessons.  I have been invited to observe a number of year 12 Industrial Arts class with the Subject coordinator Glenn Lowe.

My time table includes recess and lunch duty’s and Facultymeeting on the second Tuesday.  There is no set sport day and this will not be part of my prac.  I am thankful that all the member of staff have been very open, helpful and very welcoming.  I would love to have the chance to work in an environment like this one.

I have added the evidence I feel currently shows my evidences as a pre-graduate teacher.  This includes lesson plans, websites, resources, and reports.

I feel that I will have much more to add after my three week prac at St Joseph’s.  This opportunity to participate in a block teaching experience will be beneficial.

Not really something that I had to deal with when I was at school, but this is very much an issues that we as the teachers of tomorrow will have to deal with.
